5.0 Star Average Google Rating
Thomas & Sons Electrical Contractor is based in Indian Land, right on the edge of Fort Mill — so when you call, we're close. Founded by Tom Planavsky III, a licensed electrician in both North and South Carolina, Thomas & Sons has built its reputation in this community on one principle: do the job right, charge a fair price, and treat every customer the way you'd want to be treated.
We work with homeowners in Fort Mill who value quality over the cheapest bid. If you want a professional who explains what's going on, gives you an upfront price before any work begins, and leaves your home cleaner than they found it — that's exactly what we deliver. Our 5.0 Google rating reflects the standard we hold ourselves to on every job.
Fort Mill has grown fast. New construction, home additions, EV chargers, and updated kitchens all put more demand on electrical systems than they were designed to handle. Add South Carolina's long, hot summers pushing your HVAC hard — and older or undersized panels simply can't keep up.
An overloaded panel doesn't just trip breakers. It creates safety hazards, wears down appliances, and can make your home harder to insure or sell. Thomas & Sons evaluates your current system and recommends only what your home actually needs — no upsells, no guesswork, no hourly surprises on the invoice.
We handle both residential and light commercial electrical work throughout Fort Mill and the surrounding area. Here's what we do most often for Fort Mill customers:
Electrical Panel Upgrades and Replacement
Most Fort Mill homes run well on a 200-amp panel — but many older homes still carry 100-amp service that can't handle today's loads. If your breakers trip regularly, if you're adding an EV charger or hot tub, or if your panel is simply aging out, we assess your setup and replace it with the right unit for your home. We handle the permit process and coordinate the utility disconnect so you don't have to.
Dedicated Circuit Installation
Dedicated circuits are some of our most commonly requested work — and for good reason. Whether it's an EV charger, a hot tub hookup, a new kitchen appliance, or a home office setup, dedicated circuits protect your equipment and prevent overloads. We install them cleanly, with minimal disruption to your walls and ceilings.
Outlet, Switch, and Fixture Installation
Need more outlets in the right places? Recessed lighting in the kitchen? A ceiling fan in the master? We handle all of it. Minimally invasive recessed lighting installation is something we take real pride in — we always work to minimize the number of holes needed, and if patching is required, we have a trusted partner for that too. Our goal is to leave your home looking better than we found it.
Panel Repair, Diagnostics, and Electrical Upgrades
Our diagnostic service call starts at $79 — that includes a visit from a licensed technician, a full assessment of your issue, and our complimentary 30-point electrical safety survey. If you move forward with the quoted work, the $79 is credited back in full. Most diagnostic calls resolve quickly and affordably. We tell you what we find, give you options, and let you decide.
Additional Services
Whole-home rewiring, generator hookups and transfer switches, whole-home surge protection, lighting upgrades, ceiling fan installation, home renovation electrical, and electrical inspections.

Frequently tripped breakers, flickering or dimming lights, outlets that feel warm or spark, a burning smell near your panel, or breakers that won't reset are all signs your system needs attention. If your home is over 25 years old and hasn't had an inspection, that's reason enough to call. Our 30-point safety survey is included with every consultation.
Every job is different, so we don't give one-size-fits-all numbers. Our consultation is $79 — that includes a licensed technician visiting your home, assessing your project, and providing an upfront flat-rate quote. No hourly rates, no estimates that balloon at the end. If you move forward with the work, the $79 is credited back in full.
Yes. Thomas & Sons holds local municipality licensing for the Town of Fort Mill, and we handle permits on any project that requires them. If wiring is being added or modified, a permit should be pulled, it protects you as a homeowner when it comes time to sell or file an insurance claim. We take care of the process for you.
Yes. EV charger installation is one of our most requested dedicated circuit projects. We assess your panel capacity, install the dedicated circuit, and mount the charger — all permitted and to code. If your panel can't support the load, we'll tell you what a panel upgrade would involve before you commit.
